So, anyone else guilty of, like, never washing your makeup brushes? Just me, then? Cool. Apparently, washing brushes is super important for multiple reasons. Whatever. We’ll let Rechie Drew, makeup artiste extraordinaire take over from here. In her words:
Why you should spot clean your makeup brushes:
Spot cleaning your brushes is a great way to get pigment off your brush, so you don’t mix colors that you don’t want to. You also want to make sure the product you’re applying is what you put on the brush, not old gook from six weeks ago. (Or worse. Yuck!) This makeup brush cleanser from Cinema Secrets is a great way to clean. Bonus: it even sanitizes the brush for you.

Why you should deep clean your makeup brushes:
Deep cleaning your brush cleans the hairs of the brush, so the hairs are maintained and don’t fall out over time. When you deep clean, you are also ensuring you get rid of all the makeup that is hiding in the brush, not just the pigment or only some of the product. This helps make your brushes last longer, and helps prevent breakouts in your skin. The solid beauty blender is a super popular item that is used to deep clean brushes, but feel free to use bar soap or even Palmolive dish soap!
