Here’s a roundup of Chanukah games you can play at your family party! There are kid friendly ideas thrown in here, too! We also included a game as a pdf to download! (Scroll down to the end for that one.) Enjoy.

WHATS IN THE BAG?

Guests work in pairs, back-to-back. Each team is given a paper bag with household items/toys. One team member draws what the other is describing to him, but the name of the item and what it is used for cannot be spoken. If the partner draws/figures out what the item is, the team makes a point. The team with the most points wins.

MOVE THAT PASTA!

Using an uncooked spaghetti noodle in the mouth—and no hands—each contestant must pick up six pieces of penne.

MEME GAME

Parents send in funny or cute pictures of kids (and adults 😊) and we will need to make up memes for them.

FAMILY TRIVIA

Brainstorm some trivia questions about each family member and type up a test. Answers can be either true/false or a multiple choice.
Examples:
Shaya used to wear lenses: T/F
Sury’s favorite color is
A-red
B-orange
C-turquoise
Shaindy’s license plates begin with THK: T/F

KIDS GUESS WHO

Every child brings a little something that coordinates to their place in the family and the parents have to figure out the connection.
Ex: 4th child brings something from 4 corners of earth,
Child 7 can bring a 7 day pill organizer…

WHAT SONG IS THIS?

If ur family is musical, you can create a playlist of songs and start playing only the intro to each song. Everyone has to write down which song they think it is. Whoever has most correct is the winner. You can make this as easy or as hard as you want by choosing more or less popular songs.

KAHOOT!

Kahoot! is a great family trivia game that everyone with a smartphone can compete in.

DREIDEL WITH A TWIST

Play dreidel with coins but also two piles of papers. One has privileges – like staying up an hour late, sleepover with a friend, gets to pick the supper menu, etc. The other has jobs like clean up the playroom, give your younger sibling a bath, sweep the kitchen, etc. We play the game with coins but a gimmel also gets a privilege and a shin gets a job.
Three gimmels in a row is speeding, and gets a job instead of a privilege.
Three shins in a row needs a boost and gets a privilege instead of a job.

CHALYMPICS:@PEASLOVEANDCARROTS

I will start doing this year the chalympics . Danielle Renov idea. She has easy and fun game ideas for the kids. (Check her out on INSTAGRAM.)

MIMI PANDA

There’s this website Mimi-panda that takes ur pictures and turns it into a coloring book page… so I took a picture of each kid individually and turned it into a page and then a family picture from each family and gonna put together to make a whole book. Then make a package for each child with crayons and markers…

CUTLERY GUESSING GAME

Everyone brings 1 piece of cutlery. Put all cutlery in 1 container & all the men have to guess which belongs to their house.

GRAB BAG WITH A TWIST

Lots of cheap items wrapped individually. Write names of people on paper. Pick out one name at a time & person gets one wrapped item. When the item is unwrapped they show everyone what it is, then they hide it on themselves. When all items are used up, you have to start taking from others. Remember who has what so you know what to ask for. (Ex: Devoiry, I want the band aids. Suri, I want the note pads) at end of game, people keep the item they are left with.

TWO TRUTHS ONE LIE

Three people say three stories. Two are fake and one is real. Person listening to the story has to guess which is real.

DREIDEL DRESS UP

Prep a big box of dress up stuff. Spin dreidel & you have to dress up with costume starting the letter they landed on.
(Word could be yiddish, english, Hebrew)

NAME THIS ITEM!

Buy a bunch of cheap prizes. Present an item in center of table. Spin 2 boggle pieces and see what letters it landed on. Ppl have to label the item according to the 2 letters the dice landed on. Crowd votes for the best title to the item and that person wins the prize.

WHAT’S IN THE BAG

Put 5 different white powders in separate ziploc bags. People have to guess what the powder is. Ex: sugar, baking soda, baby powder, comet…

MOST IN COMMON?

Pair up two people. Set a timer and the partners have to try to find as many things as they have in common with each other and write it down. Ex: both make milchig supper Tuesday. Both have 3 yr old. Both wait for bus at 8:00. Then partner who has the most common reads aloud and if anyone has the same they need to cross out. Partner left with the most not crossed out is winner.

LIKE/DISLIKE/FEAR

Everyone needs to write 1 thing they like. 1 thing they dislike. 1 thing they’re afraid of. And ppl have to guess who wrote what.

MEN & WOMEN BRAINS…

Write the same word on two pieces of paper. Give one set to the women and one set to the men. In the back each person has to write something they think is connected to the word they got.. watch and laugh how different the men think than the women.
For example menorah, candles, gifts, light, latka, parties etc..
When we played at a sheva brochos, the word someone got was MARRIED LIFE: the lady wrote forever and the man wrote long road ahead

WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT YOU?

Everyone gets 10 individually wrapped candies. One person starts by saying something unique about themselves. If players don’t share that unique thing with person #1, then they must give up 1 of the candies to the person.
Example:
person #1 would say that she was never in Israel. Whoever was in Israel already, must give her a candy.
Person #2 would say that she’s the only girl in her family. If you’re not the only girl, you must give her a candy.
Person #3 would say that she eats eggs every day for breakfast. If you don’t eat eggs every day for breakfast, you give her a candy.
And you keep going around the table until each person said something about themselves. The person that has the most candies is the winner!

BALLOON STUFFED TSHIRT

Buy two huge t-shirts, divide everyone into two teams and have everyone blow up balloons. Then stuff it into one person who is wearing the shirt over their clothes. First team to blow up all the balloons and stick it into the shirt wins!

9×13 PAN MATCHING

Put out a bunch of 9×13 pans on the floor. Under each pan is a prize that matches to another pan. Kids walk around by their turn trying to find a match, and they can keep the ones they find!

WHO’S MOST LIKELY TO…

One member of the family asks each family member a list of questions. By the party she reads each answers anonymously, and after each answer everyone needs to guess who they would think answered that. for example-before the party the questioner asks everyone (separately) if you were only able to take 1 thing with you to an island what would it be? so the person who answers a toothbrush is most likely the relative who is ocd with hygiene, or the answer-a friend would be the extroverted people person…

EXTENDED FAMILY IDEA

If your extended family is really really big and you don’t even know all the cousins names… Try a memory game with all the faces of the whole family. It will be fun!

BALLOON DARTS!

Get thick boards and darts on Amazon and pin on balloons. Bonus to add mini prizes like candy or a paper with written things like ‘can choose supper one night’ or ‘$10 at the ice cream store’. Kids loved taking turns popping them!

DREIDEL WITH A TWIST #2

4 groups of items, for נ ג ה ש, we did Necklaces (costume jewelry, beads etc), Glasses, Hats, Shoes. Every person gets a chance to spin the dreidel and whatever you get you choose 1 of the items from the appropriate piles. Kids had the time of their life seeing daddy wear tiny infant shoes on one toe or little kid with huge hats and glasses etc.
Be creative with other items matching those initials

Another extended family game idea, works great for large families:
U call out a 2 digit #, or 3 digit if relevent, max # is how many kids there r in the family. For example, if u call out 6-3, the correct answer is the 6th kid’s (of grandparents) 3’rd childs name. and the 1st one to get the right answer calls out the name. The members of that immediate family can’t answer wen its their family member.
