Why should you consider a warming drawer?

Most of us are familiar with warming drawers when it comes to keeping food warm for Shabbos or Yom Tov. Gone are the days of having hot plates or a blech out on your countertop. Instead, many newer kitchens are equipped with a warming drawer, which keeps your counters clear and your food tucked away at the perfect temperature. However, if you have a warming drawer and only use it for Shabbos, you may want to keep reading!

  1. Cook multiple dishes and everything will come out warm together

Have you ever had to cook a meal with multiple courses, entrees, or moving parts? If so – you know it’s a challenge to get the timing right. With a warming drawer, you can store dishes for up to 3 hours without overcooking, spoiling, or drying out your meal. This way when all the dishes are ready, you don’t need to reheat the sides you made earlier in the day.

2. Spend more time with your guests while entertaining

Hosting doesn’t have to be stressful. Instead of spending Yom Tov in the kitchen, you can have everything prepared and warm in time for your guests to arrive. The warming drawer keeps food warm without drying it out or cooking it further, so you can really take it easy knowing your food is taken care of!

3. Busy families with busy schedules

If your husband comes home way after your kids have eaten their dinner, you’re not alone. Many make use of their warming drawer to accommodate those eating on different schedules.

4. Great for non-cooks

If your routine is to buy a takeout, your warming drawer is there to support your lifestyle. Whether you’re single or manage a busy family, warming drawers are great to keep your food warm and ready to eat. Say good-bye to your microwave!

There are multiple ways to add a warming drawer to your home.

  1. Built into a Cabinet

Warming drawers are a great addition to a kitchen base cabinet. Most warming drawer models can be installed underneath a cooktop making it easy to move food directly to the warming drawer until everyone is ready to eat.

Warming drawers are often conveniently located underneath a wall oven for the same reason. Lately, horizontal wall oven installations are trending. Adding a warming drawer under an oven is a great way to access everything at a comfortable height.

2. In the Stove

Many ranges offer a warming feature in the drawer at the bottom of the stove. This drawer could be used for storage or warming, depending on your needs.
