In this series, we explore various Jewish communities around the globe. Want your hometown to be featured next? Send an email to info@nsheinews.com with the subject line ‘Talk About Town” to be considered!

Community Information:

Highland Park/Edison is a community that encourages a unified connection between all locals, no matter your age or the shul you daven in.  The community has been growing steadily for the last 30 years to become the vibrant Jewish community that it is today. The schools in the area include: a Yeshiva Elementary School (Yeshiva Shaarei Tzion with separate campuses for both boys and girls), a day school (Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva (RPRY)), and a Montessori Day School (Yeshivat Netivot-Montessori).

Edison also hosts the world-famous Rabbi Jacob Joseph Yeshiva High School (RJJ) and Bais Medresh; and Highland Park hosts Reenas Bais Yaakov, a high-caliber girls high school that attracts students from several neighboring communities.  Edison/Highland Park has a beautifully redone Mikva for women, an Eruv, and is home to numerous delicious Kosher eateries and grocery stores.

The location of Edison/Highland Park lends to the reason people originally moved here. With its location in Middlesex County, in Central Jersey, locals joke that Edison/HP is an hour to anywhere: 1 hour to Lakewood, 1 hour to Brooklyn, 1 hour to Monsey, 1 hour to Manhattan, etc. It is also close to the largest highways in New Jersey, and has two NJ Transit train stations in close proximity (walking distance to local homes!), making the commute to New York City easy and convenient.

Just minutes away from New Brunswick, there are two world class hospitals located here: Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and St Peter University Hospital. There is a local Hatzalah, Cheveirim, numerous local Gemachs and a multitude of community WhatsApp groups (for babysitters, free items, rides and more!).

Housing:

Housing prices range from $300,000-$500,000 for a 3 or 4 bedroom house, $500,000-$750,000 for a 5-6 bedroom house and luxury homes starting at $750,000 to over a million.

It is important to work with a local realtor like myself, who can assist buyers with understanding the different sub-neighborhoods of the town. For example, within Edison/Highland Park, we have neighborhoods like “The Triangle”, “The Crossways”, “The North Side and “The South Side”, etc. This can all sound confusing to any newcomer, so be sure to work with someone knowledgable in the area, to best find the area that will suit your individual needs.

Feel free to reach out to me today to hear more information about our lovely community of Edison/Highland Park!
